claims to boost the transfer rate of IDE hard drives by up to 45% by
activating the drive's multiple sector block transfer mode. It includes
a utility to tell if your drive has the built-in capability to use this
mode and a Data Transfer Rate test to measure the results.

will partition and/or format hard drives. It has full support for a
second hard drive. You can select cluster size when formatting. It can
also detect and destroy viruses. Supports DOS 6.0.

4-Speed 1.0 [4SPD100] (Dustbowl Designs, Inc.; $0) graphically displays
your drive's data transfer rate.
BCM Menu System 2.0 [BCM] (Brad May; $49) is a group of integrated
programs for menu and file management. It can be set up to use your
favorite utilities, and automatically scan compressed files using your
virus scanner. Other features include mouse support, hot-keys, encrypted
password protection, application launching, disk and file management
capabilities, file compression manager with support for ZIP/ARC/LZH/ARJ
compression, easy customization, text editor and more. Requires 512K
memory and a 1 meg of hard disk space.
Block Cursor 1.0 [BLOKCUR] (Leithauser Research; $5) turns your cursor
from a line to a block. (See PsL disk #2915 for freeware utilities of
the same type.)
Budi 2.2 [BUDI22] (Michael A. Mayo; $25, $50) is a batch file utility
for creating text boxes, displaying text at any screen location and
sounding beeps.
[DateDir] 2.26 (Davor Hrboka; $1) lists all directory entries from a
specified date to the current date.
Dialer 2.3 [DIALER23] (GRH Software, ASP; $15-$25) is a telephone
autodialer with call timer, notepad, log that saves name, date, time and
your notes, macros, unlimited capacity, quick search and find, support
for long number sequences and more. Requires a Hayes compatible modem.
D 1.2 [D_MA] (Mike Albert; $25) is a file management utility.
[D6SHELL] 1.0 (Rockland Software; $40) is a DOS 6.0 shell. The
registered version supports all DOS commands and has an ASCII editor, a
file finder, archive support and more. This version is very limited.
Requires VGA, mouse and 2MB of extended memory.
DLS 3.11 [DLS311] (James A. Clark; $15) will read files from directories
and subdirectories on the hard drive or floppy drives and print a label,
disk insert or disk sleeve. Handy for printing content information on
diskettes.
Fancy Directory 1.4 [FANCYDR] (Leithauser Research; $5) is a sorted
directory utility which uses colors and a little bit different layout.
Handy Directory 2.3 [HD23] (James M Walters; $5) is a color-coded sorted
directory utility.
HD-Copy 1.7q [HD_CP17Q] (Oliver Fromme; $0) is a copy program for high
density disks. You can read/write 1.48Mb on any 5.25" drive and up to
1.72Mb on 3.5".
[HideFile] (John De Palma; $0) lets you protect a file from being
viewed, run, or copied, although its name will still appear in directory
listings.
HyperRead and HyperRead Generator 4.2 [HYPER42] (Leithauser Research;
$25) is a file viewing utility that allows the user to read computer
text files quickly and easily. Manipulate any ASCII documents, find
text, link related phrases, remember key words and more.
[JSREC] (Johnathan Mark Smith; $15) attempts to tell you what software
created a specified file. We first tried a FrameMaker file (FM is used
to produce PsL News) and then a .WAV file. It did not recognize either.
On our third try, it recognized a .WRI file. The *8*(!) nag screens for
this simple command line utility almost kept us from trying it a third
time.
The Norton Commander Archive Viewer 3.2 [AVIEW] (Chris Buijs; $0) is a
utility to view, extract and manipulate ARC, ARJ, LZH, PAK, ZIP and ZOO
files. Can also be used as stand-alone utility. The Norton Commander is
not required.
[Oblit] 1.1 (Tolgathian Software; $0) deletes files in such a way that
they cannot be undeleted.
Pretty Good Privacy 2.3 [PGP23] (Philip Zimmermann; $0) performs
public-key encryption on files.
Rap 1.2 [RAP12] (Thomas M. Roddy; $10) reformats text files into
specific line widths using word wrap.
ShapeShifter [S_S02] (Curtis Little; $15) converts between archive files
of various types (.lha, .arj, .zip, .lzh, etc.). It also scans files for
viruses and can be used by sysops to updates BBS directory files.
ZIP'R Lite 1.0 [ZIPRL10] (Stevenson Technical Services, Inc.; $20) uses
PKZIP/PKUNZIP to store programs in compressed form. This is a no-frills
version of ZIP'R (#4991). It compresses, decompresses and launches
programs. With this feature, it is possible to fully integrate ZIP'R
Lite into most, menuing systems. Requires a hard disk, 640K RAM, and
PKZIP/PKUNZIP.

just give him his own section:
All Drive Info 1.0 [ADI10] (George Spafford; $0) identifies all drives
on a system and displays relevant information about each drive.
ASKit 1.1 [ASKIT11] (George Spafford; $5) is a batch file utility for
getting user input. Also see PsL Disk #1008 "Batch File Input
Utilities."
Blankit 2.0 [BLANK20] (George Spafford; $5) removes blank lines from
text files.
CUTIt 2.0 [CUT20] (George Spafford; $5) converts files with irregular
length data formats to fixed length record formats.
L2R 1.0 [L2R10] (George Spafford; $5) converts 1 line:1 field data to
either fixed length or delimited format.
S3 Line Calculator 1.0 [LC10] (George Spafford; $10) allows mathematical
equations to be solved on the command line.
LineFix Package 2.1 [LF21] (George Spafford; $5) fixes files where CR or
LF characters have been left out of CR/LF pairs.
LOGit 3.0 [LOGIT30] (George Spafford; $5) allows you to insert a command
in a batch file and thus log the activity to a log file of your choice
with a comment, date and time. The program must also be readily
adaptable for any use, be it BBS, corporate or home.
S3 MOD Name 1.0 [MODNAME] (George Spafford; $10) creates a listing of
MOD file names and corresponding track titles in a DOS file or to a
device.
S3 Move ZIPped MODs 1.0 [MOVZM10] (George Spafford; $10) allows a user
to process a large directory of ZIP files and move the ZIP files that
contain MODs.
Message Screen Saver 1.6 [MSS16] (George Spafford; $5) allows you to
type a program name which will display a user-defined message on the
screen in text mode.
PadIt 3.0 [PAD30] (George Spafford; $5) converts variable length record
formats to fixed length record formats.
S3's Sloppy Directory 1.1 [S11] (George Spafford; $0) is a sorted
directory utility.
S3 Bit Calculator 1.0 [S3BIT10] (George Spafford; $10) calculates the
decimal number given the bit positions and vice versa.
S3 Floating Point BenchMark 1.0 [S3BENCH] (George Spafford; $10) will
benchmark systems based on their ability to process complex floating
point math.
S3 Delimited Field Size 2.2 [S3DSIZE] (George Spafford; $10) identifies
the number of records in a file, the maximum and minimum number of
fields in the records encountered, and the maximum and minimum size of
each field that is encountered.
MAC Sub Data to PC Data Format 2.0 [S3MAC20] (George Spafford; $10)
converts data prepared by a MAC running MacSub to a file more readily
processable by a PC.
S3 Password 1.10 [S3PW11] (George Spafford; $10) generates passwords
based on users' names.
S3 Directory Storage 1.0b [SDS10B] (George Spafford; $5) stores the
current drive and directory names to a file and then restores them
later.
S3 Zip MOD 1.1 [ZIPMOD] (George Spafford; $10) uses PKZIP to compress a
series of MOD files into ZIP files.
S3 Trajectory 1.0 [S3TRAJ] (George Spafford; $35) allows you to track
ballistics data.
S3 Doc View Utility 1.2 [SSV10] (George Spafford; $5) is a simple ASCII
file browsing utility.
